Miriam Makato

The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.

Miriam Makato is a Farmer Field Officer with Biovision Africa Trust based at the Kangundo Farmer Resource Centre. She trains farmers and school pupils on agroecology to improve soil health and enhance food security. With a background in horticulture, she has worked closely with farming communities to scale up practices such as Brachiaria grass production and to disseminate agroecology information through outreach programs, radio, and print platforms.

Miriam is passionate about promoting sustainable farming, empowering women and youth in agriculture, and strengthening resilient food systems. She is also a certified Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) Trainer of Trainers and Assessor, supporting small-scale farmers to access organic certification and organic markets across East Africa.
